About Us
Sooki started at our family's dining table. Our dad had just come back from South Korea and unpacked a few bottles of sesame oil he picked up from a tiny local mill. We didn’t think much of it—until we opened one. The smell alone stopped us. Rich, nutty, toasty—it immediately felt like we were back in our grandmother’s kitchen. One taste, and there it was: home.
It was nothing like the sesame oil we grew up seeing on shelves in the U.S. This wasn’t flat or bitter. It was warm, round, deep—alive. It brought back late-night meals, bowls of rice with a drizzle of oil, the way our parents quietly showed love through food. And we realized… if we couldn’t find that feeling here, maybe we had to bring it here ourselves.
So we went back to the source.
Our oil is made with love in partnership with a small sesame oil maker in South Korea—people who treat sesame the way our family always has: with patience. They hand-select seeds, roast them slowly, and press them gently. No chemicals, no blending, no fancy tricks. Just seeds, heat, and time. The way it’s been done for generations.
For us, this isn’t just about selling a bottle. It’s about sharing something we grew up with—something honest. Real sesame oil doesn’t just sit in the pantry. It finishes soups. It lifts rice. It carries stories.
We hope you enjoy.
