Nutty, rich, and gently savory, these cookies balance deep caramel notes from brown sugar with the toasty aroma of sesame oil.
Ingredients
-
1 cup all-purpose flour
-
½ teaspoon baking powder
-
¼ teaspoon baking soda
-
5 tablespoons unsalted butter, melted
-
½ cup dark brown sugar
-
¼ cup granulated sugar
-
⅜ teaspoon salt
-
1 large egg
-
½ teaspoon pure vanilla extract
-
1 tablespoon sesame oil
-
1 cup white chocolate chips
-
Flaky salt for sprinkling
Directions
Set a rack in the center of the oven and preheat to 400°F (200°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, and baking soda.
Combine the melted butter with the brown sugar, granulated sugar, and salt and beat until light and fluffy.
To the bowl, add the egg, vanilla, and sesame oil and mix until smooth.
Add the dry ingredients along with the white chocolate chips and gently combine, being careful not to overmix.
Scoop the dough into 2-tablespoon portions. Sprinkle lightly with flaky salt.
Bake for 9-12 minutes. Let cool on the pan for 5 minutes before transferring to a wire rack.
